Kathmandu, Pokhara & Jomsom/Muktinath Tour |

Day 01: Kathmandu |
|
Meeting at airport upon arrival by
Holiday World Personnel. Kathmandu is
the capital of Nepal and the Kathmandu
Valley is the political and cultural
heart of the Kingdom. The urban sprawl
that makes up modern Kathmandu is in
fact two cities Patan and Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu |
|
This morning you will be taken for a
visit of the Hindu culture in Nepal
Pashupatinath temple on shore
Bagmati river eastern part of
Kathmandu's regarded as most sacred
temple of Shiva (Pashupati)"Shivaratri"
or night of lord Shiva's important
festival celebrated.shores of river near
the temple lies "Arya Ghat"place of
cremation for the deceased in Nepal.only
Hindus are allowed to enter the temple.
Non-Hindu visitors are allowed to have a
look at the temple from the other bank
of river.priests who perform services at
temple has always been Brahmins from
South India started
Shankaracharya(Indian high preist in
line with Jagadguru system)to Nepal's
King in 6th century,for the practice and
achievement of sacred,secret and top
most shiva sadhana(Tantra)temple's
pagoda architecture. The two level roofs
are of copper with gold covering. It has
four main doors, all covered with silver
sheets. The western door has a statue of
large bull or Nandi, again covered in
gold. The deity is of black stone, about
6 ft in height and about 6ft
circumference.priests called Bhattas &
chief priest's known as Mool Bhatt or
Raval. East of the temple is the
Vasukinath.
Bouddhanath's one of the holiest
Buddhist sites in Bouddha's known as
Khāsti by Newars as Bauddha or Bodh-nāth
by modern speakers of Nepali Located
about 11 km (7 miles) from the center &
northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu
stupa's massive mandala makes it one of
the largest spherical stupas in Nepal
dominates the skyline.Stupa's largest in
the world hv 50 Tibetan Gompas
(Monasteries) around Boudhanath. As of
1979, Boudhanath is a UNESCO World
Heritage Site's ancient trade route from
Tibet which enters the Kathmandu Valley
by the village of Sankhu in the
northeast corner, passes by Boudnath
Stupa to the ancient and smaller stupa
of Cā-bahī ('Little Boudnath') turns
directly south, heading over the Bagmati
river to Patan - thus bypassing the main
city of Kathmandu.Tibetan merchants have
rested and offered prayers here for many
centuries.Stupa's entomb the remains of
a Kasyapa sage venerable both to
Buddhists and Hindus.
Budhanilkantha - Sleeping Vishnu
Temple Sleeping idol of lord vishnu,
sacred places for the Hindus and
Buddhists and others idol carved out of
a single stone.Then we proceed on to
Syambhunath ancient religious
complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu
Valley, west of Kathmandu city known as
Monkey Temple-holy monkeys living in
parts of the temple in the north-west 's
one of the most sacred sites of Buddhist
pilgrimage in Nepal 2nd only to
Boudhanath complex consists of a stupa
variety of shrines & temples including
Tibetan monastery,museum,library has
Buddha's eyes & eyebrows painted on.
Between them looks like the nose -symbol
of 'unity', hv shops, restaurants &
hostels: two access points: a long
stairway 365 steps, leading directly to
the main platform of the temple, which
is from the top of the hill to the east.
Continuing Kathmandu City Durbar
Square which offers tourists a
unique experience of the Nepalese art
and architecture. A golden heaven to the
most famous artists in the world,has old
palace of Newar kings- UNESCO world
heritage site's Basantapur next Freak
Street, which was the popular hippie
spot during the '70.Shah King's Palace
stands right next to Thamel - the
tourist hub of the country. A small
world within itself, Thamel is famous
for the most attractive hotels and
shopping centers in the world' home to
world famous hotels, ranging from
different stars. The palace is at the
head of Durbar Marg, a street lined with
various shops. |

Day 03: Kathmandu /
Pokhara |
|
City of close to 200,000
inhabitants in central Nepal located at
28.25 N, 83.99 E,, 198 km west of
Kathmandu. It is the 3rd largest city
after Kathmandu & Biratnagar's
Headquarter of Kaski District, Gandaki
Zone and the Western Development
Region.'s most popular tourist
destinations in Nepal 06 hours drive.In
no other place do mountains rise so
quickly within 30 km elevation rises
from 1000m-7500m.3 eight-thousanders (Dhaulagiri,
Annapurna, Manaslu) can be seen from
Pokhara & there's Phewa Lakelake of 4.4
km² at an elevation of about 800 m above
sea level) 3 caves Mahendra, Bat and
Gupteswor & fall Patale Chhango or
Devi's Fall where the water from the
Phewa Lake thunders into a hole &
disappears.climate's sub-tropical but
due to elevation, temperatures are
moderate : summer 25 -35°C winter 5
-15°C On the way to Pokhara we visit the
famous Manakamana temple " The Goddess
of Wishes" where you can take a cable

Day 04:
Pokhara / Jomsom |
|
After Breakfast, early morning fly to
Jomsom where you will be transferred
to hotel Majesty. Jomsom also known as
the cold desert also known as Dzongsam
or New Fort, is a town located at
altitude of 2800m in Mustang, Nepal
extends over banks of the Kali Gandaki
River. Along the banks of Kali Gandaki
river there are rocks holy to the
Hindus,soaring peaks of Dhaulagiri &
Nilgiri form a backdrop's district
headquarters,primarily an administrative
and commercial center with government
officials and merchants rubbing
shoulders with the local residents of
the region Thakalis Nearby is Jomsom
Airport from where there are regular
flights.A trail passes through the Lower
Mustang region of Nepal, ending at the
village of Kagbeni, a Tibetan influenced
village filled with prayer wheels,
shortens and a Buddhist monastery. The
trail follows the Kali Gandaki River
which forms the deepest ravine in the
world; on one side lies the Annapurna
mountain range and on the other side is
Dhaulagiri. Between the two ranges,
there are views of 8 of the 20 highest
mountains in the world. The Kali Gandaki
is a quarter of a mile wide river bed;
during the winter the river will be dry,
but during the summer and monsoon it
fills with rain water and melting snow.
The scenery of the trail ranges from
forests of brilliant red rhododendrons
to rocky cliffs and desert. The culture
along the track is a rich mixture of
Hindu and Tibetan Buddhism. The trail's
highest point is Muktinath at 3800 m, a
holy site of temples sacred to both
Buddhists and Hindus for

Day 05: Jomsom / Muktinath

|
Holy Muktinath temple sacred
place for Hindus & Buddhists,altitude of
3,800 m at foot of Thorong La mountain
pass (part of the Himalayas), Mustang
district. The Hindus call the place
Mukti Kshetra"place of salvation"'s 51
Sakthi peetams. Buddhists"Chumig
Gyatsa"means 'Hundred Waters''s very
important place of Dakinis,
goddesses-Sky Dancers & one of the 24
Tantric places-murti to be a
manifestation of Avalokitesvara.. A Jeep
on SIC basis will transfer you to
Muktinath and bring you back to
Jomsom.Muktinath is considered one of
the eight most sacred shrines for Hindu
Vaishnavas-Svayam Vyakta Ksetras, the
other seven-Srirangam, Srimushnam,
Tirupati, Naimisharanya, Totadri,
Pushkar and Badrinath is most ancient
small Hindu temples of God Vishnu. The
murti is of gold and is tall enough to
compare with a man. The prakaram has 108
bull faces through which water is poured
of freezing temperature. There is an old
Buddhist monk present in the temple. The
worship is conducted by Buddhist
nuns,Legend's Guru Rinpoche, also known
as Padmasambhava had meditated at
Muktinath on his way to Tibet.Sri Murthy
Mahatmyam's the only place on earth
where you can find all five elements
from which everything's made:fire,
water, sky, earth & air at the same
place together in their own & distinct
form's near Jwala Devi temple.most
suitable time to visit Darshan
Muktinath's March-June(weather
conditions would not be safe enough to
travel in other months)The journey
passes through many archeological sites
and temples,entire river bed has
Shalagram stones which are prominent in
worshiping Lord Vishnu.According to Sri
Vaishnava philosophy's considered to be
one of the Divya desam (108 in total)
holy places of worship of Lord Vishnu
praised by Alwars in a compilation
called the Nalayira Divya Prabandha's
said that one has to be gifted to get
the darshan of Lord Sri Murthi and
Goddess Sri Devi Thayaar.Travel access's
quite difficult to travel because of
tough weather conditions can fly from
Delhi/Kolkatta/Varanasi-Kathmandu-Pokhara-Jomsom
air.can Trek/private helicopter'd take
45 min to reach and then it would leave
there for 1 hr and then the return trip
is taken. The helicopter can be hired
only when the weather permits. Arriving
by helicopter for a longer period of
stay is not recommended because of the
risk of acute mountain sickness.

Day 06:
Jomsom / Pokhara |
|
Fly back to Pokhara early morning and
transfer to hotel. Today you will visit
Bindebasini Temple. This is one of the
oldest temples in Pokhara was a part of
Kaski Kingdom, the main deity of the
temple,Goddess Durga. Sightseeing to
Devi's fall, also known as Patale Chango
is an awesome waterfall lying 2 km
southwest of Pokhara. Just opposite of
Devi's fall, on the other side of the
road, there is Gupteshwor Cave.

Day 07: Pokhara /
Kathmandu |
|
Fly back to Kathmandu & transfer to
hotel. Rest day at leisure. One can
indulge himself in shopping or visit one
of the casinos. Overnight at hotel. |

Day 08: Kathmandu /
Airport |
|
Morning will be comparatively free and
closer to the time of your flight , you
will be transferred to the airport in
time to board your flight for onward
journey. |
