Day 01:
Kathmandu |
|
Arrive in Kathmandu. Welcome and
assistance on arrival at airport.
Transfer to the hotel. Hotel check in.
Dinner and overnight stay at Kathmandu. |

Day 02: Kathmandu/ Biratnagar |
|
After breakfast at the Hotel, we go to
the Domestic airport to connect flight
to Biratnagar, the second largest city
of Nepal famous for lot of big
industries. Check in at the Hotel.

Day 03: Suketar to Tembewa (1880m) |
|
After breakfast at the hotel, we take a
flight to Suketar/ Taplejung, which is
of 30 to 40 minutes flight. From the
airport in Suketar, the trail inclines
gradually along the rhododendron covered
Surke Danda, crossing a ridge at 2580m
the trail branches off to the north and
from there, the Kanchenjunga trail
descends and contours through forests to
Lali Kharka, then through the fields to
the substantial Limbu Village of Tembewa.
Tembewa is our first camping sight of
our trek. |

Day 04:
Tembewa to Khesewa (1960m) |
|
From Tembewa, the trail ascends to a
ridge and then drops steeply through
Shimu and Pokara villages to a
suspension bridge across the Phawa Khola
at 1430m. From here, the trail makes a
long looping connection to Sinchebu
Bhanjyang, from here we get to see the
views of Kanchenjunga and Kyabru. The
trek has now entered the Kabeli Valley
on descending from here we reach the
village of Khesewa, where we spend our
night. |

Day 05: Khesewa to Mamanke (1780m) |
|
Ascending 370m and descending 520m we
reach to our next camping sight of the
day that is Mamanke. The whole of the
trail is of 6 – 7 hrs we pass through
waterfalls crossing Nadewa Khola and
landslide to reach Phundruwa from where
our trail descends to Phumphe village
(1780m). Descending steeply through rice
terraces into a side canyon, cross the
Khaksewa Khola on a long suspension
bridge at 1540m we climb back through
Pauwa to Mamanke, where we take rest and
spend night too. |

Day 06:
Mamanke to Yamphudin (1690m) |
|
3- 4 hrs trek will lead us to our next
destination Yamphudin. Yamphudin is at
the junction of the Amji Khola and the
Kabeli Khola. Yamphudin is a mixed
community of Sherpas, Limbus, Rais and
Gurungs. There is also a small
Kanchenjunga Conservation Area.

Day 07: Yamphudin to Amji Khola (2340m) |
|
After early breakfast at Yamphudin we
make an early start to reach to our next
destination of the trek and that is Amji
Khola. Crossing the Amji Khola on a
couple of bamboo poles and following the
Kabeli Khola upstream for a short
distance, ignoring the suspension bridge
we reach to the fields of corn and
barley to Darachuk, we keep on climbing
past meadows to Dhupi Bhanjyang, from
here we descend through ferns and big
trees to the Amji Khola. Our campsite
for the night. We walk for 3-4hours
ascending 850m and descending 200m. |

Day 08: Amji Khola to Torontan (2990m) |
|
From the stream, the trail makes a steep
climb through bamboo to a Kharke at
Chitre (2920m) and continues up to a
notch, the trail passes through a forest
of pines to a pond at Lamite Bhanjyang a
short hike from there leads us into the
open just above the Simbua Khola. Stay
above the white, salty river and follow
it upstream, on a series of ascents and
descents, to a temporary bridge built of
stones and logs, which will take us to
Torontan, our camping site. |

Day 09: Torontan to Tseram (3870m) |
|
In trek to Tseram from Torontan we
ascend 880m in 4-5 hours walk. With the
start from forests we cross the
landslides to Tsento Kang, Watha and
then to Tseram, a large, flat meadow
that lies at 3870m. Peaks begin to
appear in the distance as you climb
further to reach to Tseram. Over night
stay at Tseram. |

Day 10: Tseram to Ramche (4620m) |
|
From Tseram to Ramche it is 2-3 hours
trek where we ascend 750m, we climb
through forests to landslide area,
passing into the valley alongside the
moraine of the Yalung Glacier, the
valley opening to a pasture full of Yaks
at 4260 m. We climb alongside the
moraine through scrub junipers up a
stream to a lake at Lapsang(4430m), we
keep climbing to another lake and a big
meadow at Ramche (4620m). We take rest
at Ramche our camping site. |

Day 11: Trip to Yalung Glacier, Return to
Tseram |
|
A day trip to Yalung Glacier and back to
Tseram will take almost 6-7 hrs where we
ascend 200m and descend 950m. To make a
day trip to the Yalung Glacier, we
follow a stream alongside the moraine
for a long distance, then bear right to
climb onto the moraine itself. From a
chorten at 4800m there is a fine view of
the south face of Kanchenjunga. A short
distance beyond the chorten is a view of
Jannu.
This is a good place to turn around and
retrace our steps to Tseram. To go
further, we would need to climb down the
rough moraine unto the Yalung Glacier
and pick our way through the
boulder-strewn glacier towards
Kanchenjunga. We return back to Tseram
where we lay our camp. |

Day 12: Tseram to Lamite Bhanjyang |
|
Returning back to Lamite Bhnjyang from
Tseram takes 6-7 hours. We retrace the
route along the Simbua Khola, climbing
back to Lamite Bhanjyang, on doing so we
ascend 530m and descend 990m. Overnight
stay at Lamite Bhanjyang |

Day 13: Lamit Bhanjyang to Yamphudin |
|
We descend from the pass to the Amji
Khola, then climb over the Dhupi
Bhanjyang and descend to Yamphudin. This
takes us almost 4-5 hrs and in this
period we ascend 200m and descend 1920m.

Day 14: Yamphudin to Phumphe |
|
We follow the route of Kabeli Khola back
to Phumphe. This retracing in a reverse
way to the tracing we had done 5th and
6th days normally will take us 5-6
hours. We descend 290m and ascend 380m.
We make our night halt at Phumphe. |

|
Day 15: Phumphe to Kunjari |
|
We follow the route of Kheswa to Mamanke
and Tembewa to Kheswa in a reverse
manner to return to Kunjari, which will
take us about 6-7 hours on doing so we
ascend 940m and descend 930m. We rest at
Kunjari. |

|
Day 16: Kunjari to Suketar |
|
From Kunjari we trek for 7-8 hours to
reach to Suketar on doing so we ascend
1150m and descend 450m. Finally we are
over with our trek to Kanchenjunga. We
get to rest at the local lodge at
Suketar. |

|
Day 17: Suketar- Biratnagar- Kathmandu |
|
After breakfast at the lodge at Suketar
we go to the airport to fly to
Biratnagar and then from there we
connect flight to Kathmandu. Arrive
Kathmandu and then transfer to the
hotel. |

|
|
Day 18: Kathmandu |
|
AM: Breakfast at Hotel. Visit 2000 years
old shrine Swyambhunath Temple, which is
also known as temple of monkeys. It is
said that Asoka paid a visit to the site
2000 years ago. By 1200s it was an
important Buddhist center. Visit
colorful Durbar square known as Hanuman
Dhoka Palace, Temple of living goddess
Kumari, Jagannath temple known for its
colorfully painted wood carving and
Kasthamandap temple a three story pagoda
style. It is believed that this temple
is built from single tree in the 12th
century.
Lunch: 1300hrs- 1400hrs
PM: After Lunch, Visit Old Royal Palace
of Patan City including Krishna Mandir
which is the best example of stone
architecture in Nepal, 12th century
Mahaboudha known in english as Golden
temple of 10,000 Buddha Shikar style
temple originally built in 1585. Dinner
and overnight stay at Katmandu. |

Day 19: Kathmandu |
|
DEPARTURE TO AIRPORT
AM: Breakfast at Hotel. Free time till
departure to Airport |
